Intake Manifold - Design Strategy

  • INTRODUCTON -

1. Software used “Creo 2.0”.
2. The automotive air intake manifold has been playing a critical role for engine performance and performance characteristics.
3. Due to this, the appropriate intake manifold system development is regarded as one of the most critical factors for new engine development success.
4. In automotive engineering, an inlet manifold or intake manifold is the part of an engine that supplies the fuel/air mixture to the cylinders.
5. The primary function of the intake manifold is to evenly distribute the combustion mixture to each intake port in the cylinder head.
6.  Even distribution is important to optimize the efficiency and performance of the engine.
7.  It may also serve as a mount for the carburetor, throttle body, fuel injectors and other components of the engine.

MATERIAL-

1. The intake manifold has historically been manufactured from aluminum or cast iron, but use of composite plastic materials is gaining popularity
 (e.g. most Chrysler 4-cylinders, FordZetec 2.0, Duratec 2.0 and 2.3, and GM's Ecotec series).

  MANUFACTURING PROCESS  OF COMPONENT Casting

  • VARIOUS APPLICATIONS -

1. can be used as a source of automobile ancillary power to drive auxiliary systems: power assisted brakes, emission control devices, cruisecontrol, ignition advance, windshield wipers, power windows, ventilation system valves, etc
2. This vacuum can also be used to draw any piston blow-by gases from the engine's crankcase.

  • What We Learnt -

1. We have learned how to use Boolean operation in designing plastic parts.
2. We follow the design procedure as follows:
3. Drawing reading.
4. Application based manufacturing process.
    Industrial point of view .
